Great piece. I don’t think I’ll watch this movie but I am amused reading about it. I think your cousin was particularly insightful when she said “[snow white] looked like a grown-up Dora with an oompa-loompa haircut…with the big ears.” Incredible analysis.
Thank you for taking your cousin with you and sharing her thoughts with us. I had a similar experience when I got married and I distinctly remember two little girls (both daughters of cousins) that were deeply impacted by seeing me in a wedding dress. They were in awe and wonder and I remember thinking “now they know they can also have this experience in the future. They are princesses and one day may marry their prince.”
As an aside, I resent a little the loss of meaning of the word princess from daughter of the King or bride of the Prince to something less 😅 but I loved this piece, especially because it takes an interesting approach instead of the same old critique I keep seeing online.
My friends and I had the same experience when we took our prom photos! There was a little girl who thought we were princesses and wouldn't stop staring...such a blessing to be apart of her childhood in that capacity.
Thank you for saying this takes an interesting approach, I really strive to be intentional when it coms to critiquing art.
"Note to the men: If your first kiss with a girl reminds her of her father’s death, you’re doing it wrong."
<furious note taking>
lol, that aside. Great idea for an article. I think your cousin has said everything that needs to be about the movie.
You always get my jokes, and I appreciate that, Connor 😂
Glad to be of service 🫡
(If you're on Windows, please pretend that little guy is not smiling, and is, in fact, very stern faced and full of gravitas as he salutes)
I’m an Apple girlie so you’re safe 🫡
I always love how Apple decided to cut off half of his face. That should be standard.
I would love to hear what she thinks of the original Snow White!
I showed her a couple of the songs from the original and she wasn’t very impressed. Maybe one day I’ll get a chance to watch the full movie with her!
Ooh, yes. That would be quite the revelation.
Disney or Grimm?
Lol I meant Disney.
Personally, I would recommend *Snow White* as illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman
Want her reviews for all future movies. 🍿
lol sounds like we must make this a reoccurring series…

She could not get over how this princess looked in the film! (Not to say Rachel Zegler is unattractive, just that Disney did her dirty here).
Heh, she was brutal, wasn't she? You should hear what my 14 year old daughter had to say about Seeing Red. Hoo boy.
It’s amazing how unrelatable these stories are to kids!
